The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School is accepting applications for an Operations Associate for the 2024-25 school year. The Operations Associate plays an integral role in supporting the daily operational and administrative tasks of Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS. This is a 12-month position.

The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School serves PreK3 – 8th grade. At the Inspired Teaching Demonstration School, a professional learning community of master teachers and teacher residents ensures that a diverse group of students achieve their potential as accomplished learners, thoughtful citizens, and imaginative and inquisitive problem solvers through a demanding, inquiry-based curriculum. With its clear mission and prominent location in Washington, DC, the school serves as a model of instruction for students and training for teachers, with the goal of becoming a leader in changing the way teachers are prepared and supported and students are educated nationwide.

Responsibilities

School Operations

  • Support day-to-day school office operations. This position will be the second person at the front desk where staff are responsible for greeting everyone who enters the building, following/enforcing all visitor management, and supporting students with late arrival/early dismissal procedures.

  • Manage the school supply and materials process, including placing orders, and maintaining the supply rooms.

  • Manage the inventory of the school store and fulfill orders as placed.

  • Coordinate field trip logistics, including meals and ordering buses.

  • Coordinate logistics and preparations for school events and activities (setting up for events, purchasing food, etc.).

  • Support the School Meals program, including verifying FARMS applications, collecting meal payments, and serving food as necessary. 

  • Support school communications by taking photographs of classrooms/students/events and supporting the school’s social media presence.

  • Serve as an Administrator of Medication, managing student medication in the absence of the School Nurse, or on field trips.

  • Support with annual student testing coordination.

  • Additional school operations support as needs arise.

Attendance & Enrollment

Provide support and back-up to the Registrar with:

  • Daily student arrival process using school-wide information systems ensuring synchronization across platforms (SchoolPass, PowerSchool)

  • Inputting accurate daily attendance and demographic data into the school-wide information system for school stakeholders (students, staff, and families)

  • Enrolling new students and maintaining the accuracy of student enrollment information in the student information system. 

  • Assisting colleagues with navigation of school-wide information systems as it relates to proper attendance/enrollment data functions 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Bilingual proficiency – oral and written – in Spanish preferred.  

  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with all members of a diverse community including staff, students, families, and the general public

  • High level of discretion and ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment, able to handle confidential and sensitive information 

  • Proficiency with the Google suite and Microsoft Office suite, comfort with data manipulation in CSV and XLS 
formats, comfort with complex mail-merge operations

  • Experience with report generation in a student records system, CMS, or comparable database

  • Ability to thrive in an innovative environment and an interest in being part of a collaborative team that regularly revisits and improves internal systems

  • Hard-working and enjoy multitasking

  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member; ability to work across the organization and externally 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good analytical skills and ability to communicate requests, gather and process information quickly and accurately, and solve administrative problems
